OK, just installed new U-joints and I noticed that when I shift from reverse to drive it hits a bit hard when it drops into drive. Just sitting in the driveway shifting back and forth it seems to do it repeatedly. Used the search function and some say this is fairly normal, others say slipyoke binding (greased that), and since I just replaced the U-joints I think I can safely say I eliminated those as a possible cause. Any suggestions ?? |

There's also a balljoint on top of the rear diff and just slop in the rear diff just check how much slop you have in the driveline / axle movement. |

Been meaning to get under there and check that rear balljoint and from what I hear I need an extra hand to rock the jeep back and forth and see what moves. When shifting from reverse to drive it acts like it has a bad U-joint. I'm just hoping it isn't a rear diff. problem since that will cost some serious $$ to correct. |
