| Post subject: | 02 sensor woes... |
So last week I was driving my daughter to basketball practice in my 05 Renegade when my check engine light came on. I just rolled over 85,000 miles and I took it in to Autozone to get the codes checked. They told me that my 1/1, 1/2, and 2/1 sensors all need replaced. I got the parts and changed them out, Reset the PCM, and the check engine came right back on. Went back to Autozone and had them reset, then the light came back on immediately. I went back and got their troubleshooting printouts done. Down the list for possible causes it mentioned on two of the sheets that my fuel pressure regulator may be a problem, because there is either high or low fuel pressure. I am going to stop by my O'reilly joint on my way home from work today and start simple. I already checked all of the fuel lines and could find no leaks/cracks damage, so I am going to try replacing the gas cap and also seeing which 02 sensors they say are the correct ones, because maybe autozone gave me the wrong ones? hopefully they will be able to assist me. Anyone have any similar problems or any advice? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Did you try checking the cat itself? Specifically the drivers side.... It could have blown through.... Causing all of your O2 sensor problems... |

03CDKJ, I haven't checked that yet. What exactly would I be looking for? I have a spare minute on my lunch break right now... |

when mine went ( the cat) you could tap against it and hear it rattle. hard to think all the 02s went at one time unless you do have a fuel problem dumping too much and burning them up. |

You will hear a rattle unless the whole inside dumped out... Most of my drivers side cat was in my resonator before the muffler when it dumped.... |

I gave both of my cats a pretty good tap inspection and nothing... I am going to have to wait until after work to check the rest of the exhaust system. I did grab my notebook though and the exact code numbers I got were: P0038 heater condition, P0152 circuit condition (heated oxygen sensor bank 2 sensor 1), and P0132 Heated oxygen sensor- bank 1 sensor 1(H02s11) high voltage. I really hope this doesn't turn into a major ordeal or else my finally worked out budget plans to lift the Renny this summer could be shot! |

Double check the connections. The little pins like to push out of where the O2 sensor plugs into. |

03CDKJ, As soon as we have final formation I am going to be out of here with the quickness and on my way home. I am going to give that a gander and I will be back on here tonight. Thank you for your input! |

Just to throw it out there, the majority of the codes seem to be heater circuit malfunctions, I hope I'm wrong, but I think I'd start considering a wiring issue. Maybe bad ground or a rubbed through wire. A lot of times the heater circuits are fused off of another system. Have you had anything else stop working? If you have, I would check that fuse. |

JustinP, everything else is working fine, except for the atrocious gas mileage I am getting right now. I checked the fuses last night and everything seemed fine. I have been hearing it might be a wiring problem from a few people now. As uncomfortable as it is going to be to inspect all the wiring again it sounds like that might be one of my first checks tonight. Thanks for the input! |

After I got home I had my wife press the accelerator so I could check the exhaust and there is just the slightest bit of black smoke coming out, also while idling it doesn't seem like there is enough exhaust coming out, so it probably is the cat...going to have that checked out tomorrow.....thanx for the help everybody! |

In case anyone is still interested.... I am still fighting it and not wanting to fork out any ducketts for any exhaust related probelms so I pressure checked my fuel system today and it was within the limits.... I guess this means my cat is f***ed or something else.... |
