| Post subject: | Fuel Gauge Problem |
The fuel gauge in my '05 Liberty is acting up. In short, it reads full with the ignition on and empty with the ignition off.....nothing in between. I have an Ultragauge hooked up to the OBDII port and according to the amount of fuel remaining in the tank currently, the dash gauge should be reading about half. All the other dash gauges seem to be working properly. Any ideas as to what the problem is? Thanks! |

It gives you the option to use it but I don't thing it is getting a signal from the Jeep about the level it is just running on default. I even says in the book that it will do this and you have to manually tell it about refilling the tank. I would do a bit more research before trusting the ultragauge. As I said the 05's may work as far as fuel reporting on the Ultraguage just my Oh and it is normal for the gauge to read empty with the ignition off as it isn't powered.

---Thanks for your reply. What you point out about the Ultragauge is quite true, but I have driven about 100 miles since my last fill up so the dash gauge should be reading less than totally full. I was wondering about some shorted wire? |
