Post subject:  Do I need a quick learn?

Hi Guys, I'm sure the answer to my question must be on here but I couldn't find.
My 2003 3.7's 42 RLE has a harh coast down change 4th to 3rd. I think this is due to an ATF+4 change I did today. I have found the following procedure on this forum and in my shop manual. However my manual says it will only work on the RFE transmissions.

Use the following steps to have the TCM learn the UD shift volume.

1. At a vehicle speed between 64-97 km/h (40-60 mph), perform repeated 4-3 kickdown shifts.
2. Repeat Step #1 until the UD volume becomes somewhat stable and the shift becomes smooth.

Will this change improve or do I have to take it for a Quick Learn procedure at the Dealer?
Thanks :)

Hi,
Regarding my question above which I thought should have been easily answered here but hey never mind. The Jeeps adaptive shift has sorted itself out after a couple of hundred miles. Glad to save the money on the Quick Learn at the dealer!

I had the same problem when I changed my tranny fluid (with ATF-4 and a new tranny filter).
Now the KJ is fine :D
