Got hit by whatever found the Jeep hit in a parking lot where I left it. Fender Flare hanging off so I just took it off to drive home. this was late last night and this is what it looks like now. ![]() ![]() All the clips on the flare are busted off and its dented under where the flare was. the flare has a crack in the forward facing edge and I don't tthink its reusable. Good thing if there is any other than scrapes on the door part of the flare and a few on the bumper there is no damage as in denting the flare will not cover. Also the flare still lines up fine if I hold it up to the body. So how much is this going to be to repair? I didn't call the police because what can they do and didn't report it to insurance yet. |

Kinda hard to tell from under the pic, but is it dented up? I'd paint the inside there, to keep from rusting. Fender flare should be easy to get online. |

yeah its going to be simple but not 100% so. the mount points on the under side no longer line up so its going to need some work to be bent back. remove all the loose paint and prime since it's not going to be seen after the new flare is installed. the new flare comes from the dealer in primer so it has to be painted. I called a dealer and got the part # and list price of $105 for the flare. I am taking it to a local Jeep shop that does some light body work too in a few minutes. since its about time for inspection the plan is to let them fix it up and do the inspection too. I hope it comes out to not be much over my insurance deductible. |

I got 2 estimates both were about $800- $900 There goes my lift fund! I'm still going to try a few other places and see if I can get a better deal. I am also looking in to used parts to save some money bit being the repair is mostly paint and labor I don't know if that's going to save me much. |

8-900 seems high for what they actually have to do.. def look around before taking that deal |

There's no reason you can't do this yourself for under $200. |

Have you went back to check the area where you were parked to see if the any cameras were in the area that might have caught the clown that hit your jeep on tape ?? Your best bet would probably be salvage yards and online parts vendors if you want OEM replacement parts. If your looking to save money on the repair then you may want to check with a local vocational school to get the labor and paint done cheaply. |

Check car-part.com for yards that might have the part. If you look hard enough I suspect you will find one with the correct color to replace yours. |

Not really, $800 sounds about right. $150 for a part, few bucks for the clips, paint prep time, paint, paint hours etc, keep in mind these guys do this all the time and are very good at knowing exactly what it will take. It would be totally different if he just brought in a limited style flare and had a paint shop do a little paint on it and then put it on himself. To the OP, I have that limited flare that needs a little prep, do the work yourself and then drop it off at a paint shop for matching paint and you would probably get away with a less than $200 fix. |

well I asked around at work who they recomended that was a reasonable shop. Several recommended Rick's Auto body for good work at a very fair price. So I stopped in after work. He is going to pull the edge of the wheel well so the flare will mount proper, remove the loose paint and primer it so it will not rust under the flare. recondition the door part of the flare and repaint it, replace the quarter panel portion with new painted to match, fix and repaint the few scratches on that corner of the bumper cover. All that for $350.00 The Flare piece alone is almost $100 at his cost. I did find a flare at a salvage yard but it was a Renny flare, I would have taken that if I could have got a complete set for a good price because those dont need painted and I kind of like the renny look. The other places only wanted to refurbish things 100% as they were new off the assembly line including painting and clear coating areas not seen with the flare on and charging me to remove the bumper cover tail light, a car cover, storage and stuff. I went from 3 page estimates to one page. This guy didn't think there was much damage at all to work out. he is going to start the work May 16th and have it two full days. I will have to post an after pic when its done. I think I am making the right choice here. I would think about trying to do some of it myself and think I could. I just have too much work at home getting an appartment ready to rent again to mess with that now. so its either pay the guy to do it or hold up my other stuff and maybe loose more income there to save a few bucks. |

I was told that it depended where I was parked if it got taped and I would need a police warrant to have access to the tapes. I just said a few colorful words and left. It was late I was already tired and now in a bad mood. I decided not to bother with the police because they would likely not be able to do anything for a small accident or catch the person who could be half way acrooss the county by the time they show up. since I found a fix for under my deductible I'm not so mad. I can deal with it. That even includes fixing a scratch I put on the corner of the bumper there in the same area a few months ago too. I did check mopar online parts the flare was $72 but $59 shipping charge so that's not a good deal. |
