| Post subject: | E-brake adjustment issues |
Hello. I'm new to this forum and i have been using the searchability but can't easely find anything about a troublesome parkingbrake. I will try to describe my problem, I beg my pardon for my spelling as I'm from Sweden. When i pull my parkingbrake lever it somethimes works as it should but more than often it easely goes to the top of the levers action. I understand there are some kind of an automatic adjustment built in beside the lever, mine is all greased up with a white grease, is this normal? I have only taken a quick look at the adjustment and a got the feeling this should work as a friktionadjustment? Therefore...should'nt it be dry (not greased up)? Can I do anything to adjust this parkingbrake? Love to get it to work as intentioned. I have a KJ -05 with a 2.4 enginge. Thanks alot. Tikkapower |

Welcome and thanks for getting LOST! First thing you need to do is read up on the stickies for each section before you post. Your thread was moved to the General section since it is not a specific 4x4 issue/question. Don't worry. A lot of people are making the same mistake. As for the parking brake, I'll leave it up to our more skilled mechanics to answer your question. |

With an 02, I think you have rear drum brakes. Try this thread. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19141 |

I'll try to simplify the description of my problem. If I pull my E-brake lever normally/slow it locks both rear weels after 6 clicks. (Almost every time) If I pull my E-brake lever fast, it goes to the end and slighty engages the brakepads, but it does'nt lock my weels. Seems to me as something is slipping when I pull the lever fast |
