okay so I need to get my speedometer calibrated for the 245/75/16s but I am having an issue getting it done. Most of the dealerships that I have asked just straight up said no it can't be done. Now here is my current situation, My best friend teaches auto mechanics at one of the local community colleges here and one of his best students works at a local Jeep dealer, we asked him about it and he said he would ask his team leader about it. Now they said that they would reset my pinion for free 'in the interest of education' but both he and his team leader could not figure out how to do it. Does anyone have experience actually doing this themselves (read: at dealer) or can anyone give me like step by step directions as to where to find the pinion reset in the tool?

I'm confused. What does calibrating your speedometer for your larger tires (which is done through the computer) have to do with your pinion gear? The Chrysler axles use speed sensors and tone rings don't they? So gear swaps don't change the speedo. Only the ECU flash with the scan tool can calibrate the speedo for tire changes.

All the information on here and on other KJ sites state that when you get the speedo calibrated at the dealership with the DRBIII that they call it a pinion reset which is why I called it that.

I know when I had my torque converter replaced and the flash update done the tech at the dealer showed me the computer they used and everything that they can do with it. One of the things I do remember is he made sure I had factory tires, which I did at that time because if I didn't he would of had to of changed the size in the computer for the speedo to read correctly.
