I have a crazy noise coming from the front of my jeep. I have a video for it but I don't know how to put it up here and don't know if I would even be able to. Anyways, the sound reminds me of putting a lot of weight on leather and pushing it against something. Yes, I do have leather, but it's not that lol. The noise is coming too far in the front to be that. It also sounds like squeaking sometimes. I have notice it more when the air conditioner is on, but I don't if that has anything to do with it. The modifications for my jeep on in my signature so maybe something like the lift could cause the noise?

Thanks for any help!

Possible bad tensioner.....need more info for better diagnosis.

I also have noise coming from the front of the engine, looking at it looks like the fan isn't running full speed. What controls the fan speed, its not overheating.
Any ideas?
Thanks

If it is the tensioner, you should be able to hear it. Look at tensioner with a flashlight and A/C on.
You should hear it squeeling, chirping, or jumping spaztastically.

If this is not it, mabe take a big screwdriver and check around by listening with your ear on the back of the screwdriver.
Reving it up may help to find the noise also.

took it to my mechanic so they could check out everything i can't and it turns out it is the upper ball joints! ugh! which means i'll be getting new ucas and all that good stuff. for ONE upper control arm, alignment, and whatever else it is gonna be 455 bucks! so for that price should i just go ahead and get the one replaced and deal with OR should i buy the aftermarket ones (that come with two) sold by jeepinbyal? if i was to pay 455 just for one i would eventually need the other replaced so it would be around 800 bucks probably and if i was to by jba ucas it would be around the same price with labor. maybe i am adding it all wrong lol. the mechanic said if i bought aftermarket the labor and alignment would be 400 bucks.

sorry if it sounds confusing! opinions please!

Al has the 4.5 on sale for just under $400, there are some guys in the Hampton Roads area that would help you install them to save the labor charges, if I was still there I would help ya.

If your gonna do it do it right the first time!!

400 sounds like a fair quote. You should first try to hustle some local help, and try to just foot the cost of Al's arms+allignment,+beer money for the help.
Total=around $600 save $200 and have both sides good to go.

The Merchant Tire in Chesapeake off of Cedar always did my alignments and I never had an issue with the work they did. I also did tires through them.

haha the mechanic i am talking about doing the install is my cousin, but yet he still will not give me a discount of any kind. guess he has to make some kind of a living too. yeah, i'm not worried about the alignment, just the install and labor cost. i guess i'll ask around! thanks guys!

little update: i got the jeepinbyal's upper control arms installed today along with an alignment. i was seeing how close they were from the tire and they seem closer than the stock ones. so close that i can't even get a finger between the tire and control arm (i have pretty small hands by the way since i am a girl lol). do they just need to be broken in a little or do they need to be adjusted? thanks for the help!

if you gotta replace one, do the other. some may disagree, but I would rather dish it out now insted of 4 weeks later doing it all over again but on the other side
