Post subject:  How to find out your KJ...

Hi,
Quick question, does anyone know how you can find out your KJ full technical specification and the year is was built?
I this there must be a databse or website where you can put your Vin Number and it will tell where/when and all the necessary information about your KJ (ie diff type, greabox, etc).

Just a question... I know for Land Rover you can, but for Jeep?!

Thank you,

Fil.

Request a build sheet from jeep.com, under the owners section.

Yes, it only works in the U.S. They would not send a build sheet to Canada even after I called Jeep customer service. They never explained why, they just said it cannot be done. Maybe now that FIAT has control, that may have changed.

I got it from a dealer, no problems, just gave the VIN number.

Dealer in Canada can get one for you. I received one when I bought my Jeep and I am the second owner.

Door jam for month and year of build. As for spec sheet you can request one from jeep or a dealer, even though my crappy dealer said they could only read mine to me...

Thanks, I will try this again through the new dealership that I go to now. The palce that I bought the Jeep from sent me to Jeep Customer Service because they said they could not get the build sheet. They are now a Hyundai dealership. Not surprised about that happening.

If they try to say they can't get it for you again, I can scan mine and email it to you as proof.

I will try the dealership down the road, they seem to be pretty good. They have my VIN number on file and I know one of the service writers. Hopefully a phone call will get me a build sheet.
