I have noise that I can't seem to track down. So after replacing both front CVs with reman NAPAs and modifying them to work it is still there. I also recently replaced my U-joints with the premium greaseable ones from NAPA also. So I am out of ideas and tired of guessing so please help.

2x, Drop the drive shaft and grease it up. Its annoying, not an immediate concern, but over time can cause extra stress on your ujoints if it starts sticking.

Rear control arm bolts are loose... especially if you take it off road a lot... it's a common Jeep issue, the brackets contact rocks and whatnot and mushroom causing the bolts to loosen. I had the same problem, it would also clunk when I accelerated into turns. I

Is the noise more pronounced when you're pulling away from or coming to a stop. The CRD tends to go through motor mounts and when one goes, things (mostly) stay in place, but the parts inside the mount clunk against each other during the shifting coming on/off torque.

The passenger mount was just replaced about a month ago. I tested the drivers by standing underneath it listening. Well looks like a I have a few things to do today thanks everyone. I will keep y'all updated on what it turns out to be.

Loose motor mount bolts can also cause a popping noise over bumps or on acceleration.

Would the rear control arm bolts cause a clunk when coming to a stop, mine with give a nice loud clunk in the rear when coming to a full stop.

I greased the output on the shaft with no luck at all it still has a nice thump when i go to take off and when i go into reverse. I am about to go drop all the skid plates and probably the forward drive shaft hopefully that is if considering i only have a few other options after that.

Tightening the bolts I said to check is much faster than the other suggestions... just sayin'

Thanks JL actually already checked those bolts before i left for Moab and then again today. And i have checked the tri link twice now even had the whole car off the ground on jack stands trying to get the noise out of it. So suspension is out so it has to be something in the drive line.
