Okay the 4th Window Regulator went last week on my 07 Libby sport 4x4.
Thats it now all of them have had to be replaced.

I called one stealer for the part and he tells me the part has been changed and now you have to buy the glass with it and something called a sticker? Okay so a a less than 100 dollar part is now what with glass about 4 or 5 hundred? Is this magic glass that will stop the regulators from breaking?
The killer for me is that I shipped my Libbery out of the country and each time it cost me shipping and duty so the regulators are eating up all the money I save by importing my Libby.

I think it's time to sue. Are there any lawyers on the board will to take the case? I would be happy with a class action and make them reimburse everyone that had a regulator go out. Seems to be an unusally high number of the same part.

Well seems like the new regulator and requires window is the fix.Good luck with sueing them, doubt it will ever happen and better off saving the lawyer fees for more regulators.

What makes you think the glass is a fix? You think they used lighter glass?

Probably a different attaching point to keep the regulator from breaking would be my guess.

I've had six go on my '03 (I am not kidding). It's getting very old. I think a recall is in order?

Not a safety issue so no recall will ever be issued, only a TSB which is not free if you are out of the 3/36 warranty.

Last week I had the 2 in the rear replaced under warranty, and they did put in the new glass as well. Time will tell if this is a more permanent fix or not...

If your under 30k miles you should be covered, if not try a dif dealer see what they say. I had one go out a week ago and they replaced the regulater and window free. took em 4 darn hours though. I'm at about 25k and an 07 also. second to go out on me, sport.

Okay I heard from Chrysler today. (Don't know how much longer they will be in business)
No explaination on why the regulators are bad, but I have an email admitting they need to be replaced. Ooops on them, they just admited liability.

Still no word on why the glass must be replaced for the new regulators to work. No idea what will happen if the old model goes bad. It is a really flimsy plastic piece.

So just to update, I have an actual email from Chrysler admitting that the glass must be replaced, to get the new regulator. I would suggest that everyone go to the NHTS.gov website and fill out the form. Yes a window is a safety device, and can cause an accident. Imagine driving along and your window drops suddenly at 70 miles per hours, or on a rainy road in the middle of the night! You freak out and crash into a deer that was minding its own business.

This is gonna be one of those stories like the delay wiper guy. Big Chrysler will fight for years before giving in. But I won't go crazy I will just hound them into eternity!

Actually VW jetta's had a similar if not identical window issue that did spur a recall

i had an 04 renny before my 06 & i swear i remember a recall for the rear flipper glass. supposedly the glass would open by itself. anyone else have any experience with this? i'm going to call my dealership & see if they can confirm that for me. if i'm right & am remembering correctly that would be no different than a regulator issue right? i agree, a window problem IS a safety issue!! i had 1 reg break in my 04 & 2 so far in my 06. all under warranty thank goodness but it's running out soon.

it's a safety issue when someone can walk up and palm your window and drag it down at a stoplight near Chicago Midway or somethin..

or walk up palm your window drag it down and snatch your kid out of the back seat ..

yes i know they're rather absurd examples but sometimes absurd works when getting your way with a Corp

absurd sometimes also means future liability suits and as retarded as civil law has gotten, usually means possible

I bought some window regulators that were refurbished down in Texas, can't find the link but I found it on here. He riveted the plastic to the arm so they don't come apart. I will see how they last. They were around 100 bucks shipped. Much cheaper than the new window.

If the rear glass pops open while driving it sucks the carbon monoxide into the cabin and you die, that kinda a safety issue.Having a side window fall when driving may scare you but not enough to cause any damage if your paying attention to driving and not texting, then again if your texting you may not even realize the window fell anyways.

Just had my 05 liberty in at dealership for 4th window regulator. At first they said they would fix it under warranty but then said the warranty elapsed. I called chrysler to have them fix but will have to wait to hear back from them. In the meantime I found a link to a class action lawsuit submitted in CA for this very thing. Hope this link works.

There is so much wrong in that link.Just a waste of time and $$$ as a federal judge releaved Fiat(Chrysler) from anything before there takeover. They may choose to warranty items but not required to for vehcile made/sold before there take over in '09.
