| Post subject: | Intake resonator?? |
The other day while at Mike's (daspes) house we were bsing and checking out each others KJs and I noticed that the air intake hoses are different between mine (2003) and his (2005 or 2006) basically my intake hose comes from my airbox to what I guess is a resonator and then into the Throttle body and his just goes from the airbox straight into the throttle body. My question is this can I replace my hose/resonator with a hose from a newer 3.7 like his, and would their be any advantages or disadvantages from doing it? |

I know a few who have done the delete. They changed the size of the hose from 03 to 04 though so what you would need is the whole airbox/hose etc |

when i was still on campus at ECU I hooked up the resonator (the part that says 3.7 jeep etc that mounts to the TB and the hose from my neighbors 05 to a volume airflow machine dont remember the exact specifics of the numbers we got but I personally came to the conclusion that the resonator wasn't causing a restriction but the stock throttle body was so the resonator and stock box / pipe are still in place.. the stock throttle body however is not you'll get a lil more racket without the resonator though so if you want some more interior noise swap to just a pipe, makes about the same effect as flipping the lid on a 4bbl air box i personally think they pulled the resonator as a cost saving mechanism, one less injection molded piece to produce and the additional cost of the reformed rubber and plastic piping was minimal that being said, you don't HAVE to use the pipe from the other model you can make your own, there's been several who've done it here - contractor style suction hose in various diameters can be purchased by the foot at places like tractor supply or maybe lowes/home depot - it's flexible to make the run, rigid so wont crush and will withstand engine temps and oils and what not and wont retain or transfer as much heat as some other materials just a thought |

If they only changed the hose size then theoretically I could just change the airbox lid (therefore not having to modify another airbox for my snorkel) I was mainly thinking about doing away with the resonator as it would just be one more place for water to get in. |

Didnt make a lick of difference from my stock 06 pipe. Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk |
