Well the check engine lite came on while my wife was driving the other day. She filled the tank and the next day it was off (probabally nothing to do with it). Its been off for over a week and today I was driving it and it came on again ![]() Thanks-Dave. |

If the fault went away when you filled up with fuel, I would check the gas cap, sometimes they do not vent properly and the computer will throw codes, make sure it is tight, take it off and bang it a little bit, put it back on see if it helps, if it seems related to the cap and keeps returning, get a new cap. |

Shouldnt be the cap, Erie county in PA now has emissions testing they charge us a min of $35 to put our caps on $10000 machine to see if they leak any fumes ![]() |

In the owners manual it states that the KJ is picky about the quality of the gas you use. Using a lower quality could cause the check engine light to come on. I'll have to go look up the words again in the book....but thats my suggestion....and are you SURE that cap is on all the way??? (atleast 3 clicks) clicky here for instructions on how to check your CEL. |

Man, you guys rock. I was just getting ready to make a post about how to check the engine light codes with just the odometer display. Lo and Behold, there are my answers. Well off to check what the problem is (this time). Thanks for the help. later, mike edit: man that was easy enough. so anybody know what: "P0442 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak) " means? thanks again |

first thing check that your gas cap is on tight, three clicks, if that is the problem it may take a couple of trips, starts, to go away. if that doesn't do it, then it may be a small leak in the lines near the gas tank. I recall seeing posts about that some where months ago, but I have never experianced this problem so others may have a better idea. |
