Anyone ever attempted to paint there stock chrome grill?? im really hating the chrome look on my 08kk and wondering if any one has had much luck making something stick to the OEM grill. im thinking just body color and then if i have much success i will line-x the door moldings and rest of the chrome pieces. any tips or suggestions would be great |

Didnt do it to my jeep because it was already painted, but did it to a chrome Maxima grill back in the day and it stuck just fine. Sand it like normal to rough it up a little and get rid of the chrome then paint and clear...should be fine |

Mines color matched, but I have painted the chrome grill emblems on my gti and mustang. They did fine. |

I took mine off and painted it. It was about a day long project. After removing it, I got really fine sandpaper and sanded the doo doo outta it. Then sprayed it with addesive spray to help the paint stick. Then I sprayed it gloss black. When it was all said and done I hit it with a few coats of clearcoat and called it a day. Seems to be holding up. I wax the crap outta the Jeep and it seems fine. |

Looks really good. I like it. Did you just spray it down or what? I wonder sometimes what the longterm is gonna look like on mine. I'm afraid mines gonna start chipping or peeling. |

Unless you have it professionally done and they add a flattening agent in the clear coat. Thats what I've been taught/told, never seen it done though. |

Just couldnt really tell if that was light shining on the grill or ir being a tad glossy |

Thanks, its just a bedliner, rustoleum brand actually. I just sprayed it down, couple coats. Paint took to it well. |

I believe I used the dupli color on my belt line, looks like mine has a little bit more texture but it might just be the picture. |

Thanks for posting all this. I have a silver KJ and apparently at some point before I bough it the fropnt grill was replaced with a red one, painted silver. Unfortunately rocks and what not are quickly chipping the crappy silver paint job hey did off and showing a beautiful glowing red paint underneath... I decided I'll likely go this route exactly. Probably even the same bedliner. |
