Last night woke up to the horn going off and on like someone was sitting inside messing with us. So go out gun drawn to find no one inside. Once I got inside I found the gauge cluster lit up like it was in the ACC position. Started it up and it cut off like the security cutoff kicked in. Removed the key and the cluster lights were still on. Started it back up and it ran..... So removed the battery cable so we could go back to bed.

Fast forward until this morning.. Went out this morning put the cable back on and started it up. Went around the block everything seemed fine except the red security light did not go off....but it still ran. Got back cut everything off and could hear a relay under the hood clicking off and on. Opened the relay box and the ASD (automatic shut down) relay would cycle on, make some noise, and then back off. Pulled it out and disconnected the battery so I could let it sit without worry while I went to work.

I'm thinking a PCM issue? I did a quick google search about the ASD relay and found where the PCM would get corroded and cause issues...once cleaned it worked fine.....any other ideas?

EDIT: I might add we had about a inch of ran over a 30-45min time frame and the jeep was driven with no issues about hr and a half prior to it going crazy.

Battery was replaced a little under a year ago HOWEVER I had an issue where it would die at random times. battery was check and found ok. I noticed it only died when I had my EVIC wired up even tho it was wired to a no constant power soruce (radio turn on) it still killed the battery.

Got home from work. Reinstalled the ASD relay and everything seems to be working fine? Haven't drove around but will before heading to bed?!?!!? Maybe rain shorted something out then dried up when it was 100*f in the cab today?

Update: Drove around last night and to work this morning with no issues. I'm think the heavy rain we had go into something and was causing a short...

issue with the evic causing drain

reminds me of issues you run into sometimes with ground kill toggle switches using the toggle to kill the ground, or vice versa using the toggle to interrupt the power - one of the reasons it's a good idea to run it off of a relay versus a straight wired setup

ran into it a bunch, even with the switch off when wired as an interrupt would still cause a draw

points maybe towards a bad ACC ON relay?

Do you have a sunroof or had the windshield replaced?

2 common thing that leak allowing water to get into the dash fuse box and/or steering wheel which will make the horn turn on by itself. But again a bad battery can also make it do funny things with OE alarm, had the same issue with my ex's ZJ.

Yes I have sunroof and thought about the drains....No water on the floor however you know it only takes a drop to mess up anything electrical.....

Mike....I think I will add a relay and go from there.

Thanks guys!
