Has anyone had problems with using Amsoil ATF in a 42RLE? I have searched around but found nothing bad so far. |

A couple of members here will say that they have ran it with no problems and some will say that it isn't spec'ed for the 42RLE, so they don't recommend using it. Myself, I have no doubt that Amsoil ATF is a great ATF, but I always try to use what is spec'ed for my vehicle, so I have never ran it. Good luck on your decision. ![]() |

I run it in 2 KJ's, 1 TJ and 1 XJ in both trans and transfer cases and our Scion toaster trans w/ no problems. On my KJ I have towed a large camper trailer to Moab and Grand canyon and back and a utility trailer on a few occasions plus lots of wheeling all over the place including back to Moab, Arizona, all over So-Cal, etc. ditto on all the wheeling on the other Jeeps too (in other words, they get used hard). But I'm so very lucky and YMMV. ![]() |

Love amsoil for my front and rear. But I use mopar for the tranny. Why? easier in a pinch although JJsKJ ships fast as hell. |

I started this thread because I posted over on JeepForum.com that I changed over all my fluids to Amsoil, and got all these horror stories about the tranny's not doing well with the universal ATF. They said it wasn't to ATF+4 spec. A few of the guys posted that some people over here were having problems with it so I decided to see exactly what is going on over here. But even with all this, I have been looking hard to find evidence of problems with Amsoil ATF and I have not been able to find anything yet. ![]() |

direct link to the actual problems? that thread other than having links to external sites shows 3 quirky crd's using atf4 1 quirky crd using "other" and some suncoast discussion and a mention that amsoil has a noticeably higher viscosity out of the bottle than atf4 feel like im missing something btw lim, all but .. bout 1 or 2 at the most in the thread over there are over here too :p lol |

I somewhat feel like small sample reported problems are a bit over weighted given chance of problems upon changing the fluid regardless and the fact that trans problems aren't exclusive to "other" users. It isn't like ATF4 tranny's with perfect or better than perfect service records have "never failed" that being said.. amsoil will never have a test size as large as ATF4 i'm certainly not willing to say the fluid isn't at fault either no more than i'd be willing to say that there is no variance between licensed atf4 blends gitwatimsayin? |

I’ve ran the Amsoil ATF since my KJ was new with only a few hundred miles on it. I put it in when I did my Transgo Shift Kit. I also run it in my 2000 XJ and 2006 Dodge Ram Cummins. Amsoil ATF is fully suitable for the KJ 42RLE and meets or exceeds the manufactures specifications. ![]() |
