Was a insanely slow day at work so from 8am to almost 3pm some of us watched movies in my Jeep.Decided to test my battery afterwards,sorry didn't think to take a before test as I did not have any idea how long it was going to be really dead...........  Not bad after 7 hours with my DVD player and two 10" subs(700watt amp) blasting non-stop.Another plus for the Odyssey PC1500/Sears Platinum P1. |

And all that time.. you coulda taken a nap on a creeper under a truck somewhere and got some GOOD Z's!! |

Was lucky i worked my own paycheck when i was in a diesel shop.. as many times as i got "busted" by the other mechanic layin under a box truck tappin a wrench on the muffler every lil bit as i caught a few .. trucks always sat outside idling till we opened up so it was all warm and cozy under there in the winter.. and our roof leaked.. so it was usually the only dry spot.. now in the summer.. i'd move farther back under the driveline and lay there with the grease gun never was a morning person.. was lucky i spent as little time in the conus while in the Corps as i did.. my biological clock is apparently set to Afganistan.. i have no problems going to bed at 10am and sleeping till 5pm est - which is roughly night time in afganistan |

The "700" Watt amp measured at 14.4V is about a 490 Watt amp at 12.5V. Unless you were looking at a video and listening to a sine wave driven to 3dB of clipping, your average power over time was only about 100 Watts (8 amps) assuming 50% efficiency. This also assumes a steady supply voltage. A non-regulated supply (most 12V amps) will produce less output and input voltage sags which is great for charging systems but not so much for output. A regulated amp such as my 500/5 will draw more current to maintain output if voltage sags which is great for audio but not so much for weak charging systems. If you were to run the same test with a 500/1 (500 Watts @ 12.5V) the results would be different. For that length of time, you'd probably run into the low voltage protection which kicks in at 10 Volts of input. |

I too am not a morning person. While I love being up early, its not natural for me to get up early. But as for sleep deprivation that isnt a problem. I can easily go without sleep for a while and honestly I have had times where I worked through the night took an hour or less nap in the after noon and did it all over again. Which is why I think I would have done very well have I not dropped my enlistment before it started (was signed up for ranger school). But I will say 5 am PT (ROTC) did feel good, it was getting out of your warm bed and the initial shock of 30 degree weather that was the bad part. As for sleeping in the shop, well there are all sorts of places to do so at the shop I worked at. Problem is we were paid flat rate so if I slept I didnt get paid and they didnt give me any issues. But when a buddy of mine and I were apprenticing (hourly pay) at ford we had several ways of catching a few Z's after a long night. I have done the creeper nap a few times, but the best was getting a few PDIs and taking cat naps in the back lot where the service manager and dispatch were too fat an lazy to walk out too. Nothing like a brand new vehicle to take a nap in. Not to mention the rooms throughout the shop where people avoided them due to be useless for anything. Oh and there is always the bathroom, sure taking a nap on the pot isnt the best but good in a pinch. I have more places but I dont want to sound like a lazy bum. Really only slept during slow times (winter) when there wasnt any work or I only was given one vehicle and I had to wait on parts for a while. |

Oh mornings! I woke up at 5am today and ran from 6-8. Best part about waking up early and running is your get to eat 2 breakfasts and still feel great. |

just pulled some tomaters from out back and made a sandwich well.. started out by making A sandwich.. then it became 2.. then i decided i wanted ham and tomato sandwich .. so it became 3.. i think im good till tomorrow now |

this is half off topic but relevant. My buddy takes his boat to the sandbar and of course runs the radio. He thinks he needs to start the engine and run it for 30 seconds about every 20 minutes cause he's paranoid the battery will run dead. He just doesn't understand and yea once it started but then that start-up did the battery in and then, well you know the rest... I agree with Tony though. Those batteries are about the best. I put one in my Dad's Ranger which sits mostly and it did sit all winter for about 4 months. Started right up like it was just parked there. |

According to Odyssey if the battery is stored at normal room temperature it will still have enough juice in it after 5 years to start your vehicle. Probably the last Battery I will ever buy. |
