Yep. On the way home from work today, I punched it to zip around a mini van to get to my exit, and the A/C suddenly went hot on me. Started smelling a strange sweet smell. Cool air never came out of the vents again. Got home and popped the hood. Smelled like burnt brake shoes. Compressor clutch is dead. :dead: Won't kick on anymore. Now I get to use that bumper-to-bumper lifetime extended warranty the dealer gave me to entice me to buy my KJ. Ironically, It was Labor Day weekend 2007 when I bought it new. :pepper:

On the bright side, It is supposed to cool down this weekend. Only going to have temps in the mid 90's.

that happened to the wife's 04 kj this summer with about 170k miles on it....while towing a boat to the lake for a week vacation. After it happened we turned the AC off, waited a while, and it worked fine. The clutch was going though, although the AC did work. Just changed out the whole compressor a few weekends ago and it's back in business.

Dealer replaced mine. AC is VERY cold now. I did not realize that the AC was not blowing that cold before it actually went. But now it will give you a headache because it gets so cold!

No joke. It has been crazy hot this summer. In fact, in the DFW metroplex, it was officially the hottest summer ever on record. Most number of days above 100°, and highest average temp.

LOL. We are down to the 80's the past couple of days, and I have seen people wearing sweatshirts because they are actually cold!

Usually DFW area is humid (to me anyway. I lived 30 years in west Texas where it is really dry) But this year has been major drought too. Lots of wildfires because everything is dead and dry.

But I laugh at the whole dry heat vs moist heat stuff. Those that live in humid areas usually say "but y'all have a dry heat. It is not as bad as when it is humid and hot" Those that live in the dry areas say "but at least y'all have the moisture in the air to help keep you cool a little more than here where it is so dry"

I have lived in both. West Texas - extremely dry all the time. Houston - Super humid all the time, and Ft Worth - happy medium between the two extremes. I can tell you from personal experience that if it is above 110° F outside, in any of those humidity (or lack of) conditions, is is TOO DANG HOT! And I want to be in the pool, lake, river, ocean, or even water sprinkler. :pepper:

Oh I hear ya! I was at the hoover dam a few years ago and it was like 115 or hotter and yeah I hated it, but it paled in comparison to a 90+ day here in humid land. Hell I didnt even break a sweat, but then again thats due to it probably evaporating so fast. But again no matter what humidity over 100f is hot enough to make the devil sigh...

Ovens are a dry heat too.........

normally we have 90 degrees and 90% humidity - not this year.

we did 85 days over 100, max was 112.

I heard we were hotter this summer than Arizona -
personally I'd rather let them have that distinction
