I used a grade 8 bolt with matching nut and lockwasher for my warn shackle. It would be a PAIN to take off... need two BIG wrenches or sockets of the same size (1/2 drive socket set!) ![]() |

You can just use your hitch receiver and a pin with your strap when wheeling. It just doesnt look as cool in the city. I would trust that more what Cachers rigging in his second picture. |

no offense cacher, but that thing just looks like trouble...I got a superwinch clevis for my reciever (~$35 at fleet farm)...I seldom put anything but the rubber reese plug in my hitch. Hitch mounts like to get frozen with rust up here in minnesota so a locking pin doesn't make any sense to me because I won't put a hitch or clevis in my reciever untill i am ready to use it. |

It's the metal clasp on the end of the strap. If that gives, it is a flying projectile that can kill. Not that straps can't kill either (I've seen videos of ship mooring lines cut people in half when they snap), but having the chance of a flying metal object is just riskier. |

My hitch is naked too. I mostly use it for a cargo carrier when I need the extra space on camping trips or to pick up and return beer kegs!! But don't think that I don't have the locking pin. But that's the only time you'll see anything in my receiver is when I need it. Chalk it up to a lesson learned the hard way... |

Clarification: That pic is off the site where I bought it. I would never use any strap with a metal clasp. I hve a shackle/D-ring (whatever you call them) in the KJ I would use to secure the strap I carry which is a standard tow strap with no metal ends. That hitch just makes it convenient as I use the hitch for hauling occasionally and offroad only occasionally. This way I have both attachment points right there if I need. |

Doesn't clear the spare but the trailer tongue manages to squeak under the tire when attached. I don't know the rating but I don't haul more than a single Jet Ski or motorcycle in the summer. |

I have no information about the manufacturer of this receiver shackle: Except for the description: "NEW 2" RECEIVER SHACKLE WITH 3/4 BOLTED 4 3/4 D RING". Is this worth $22 shipped? It doesn't seem to be all that much more than a tow hook |

$22 shipped is quite cheap. i've been shoppin em online, and a warn shackle mount is around 35-39 before shipping. if you can find the link for that 22 dollar shackle, i'd like it. i wanna get one before the LOST paragon ride on the 18th. thanx, bob |
