I am going to add some lights to my front bumper, and am looking for suggestions. Have been looking at mainly the Hella 500's and Rugged Ridge. Also thinking about HID since my headlights are HID conversion. Just looking for some input. Thanks!

Looks nice! My plans are to mount mine directly on top of the bumper. Will be my first real add-on since I had to replace the engine 6 months after I bought it. Hopefully after tax time it will all get rolling though!

I have an '04 and the holes were already on the bumper under the plastic - same spot where the Renegade aux lights get mounted. I have the Hella 500FF. For the price they can't be beat. It's been 3 years now and I've never had any problems.

I had hella 500's mounted out front and I didnt' really like them.
Not enough light and the beam was too pencil.
Granted for $60 they are good, but if you have a little extra to spend I would choose differently.

Well I went ahead and ordered a set of Hella 500FF. I found a video that showed it compared to the regular 500 and 500 Black Magic, and it looks like it should meet my needs. Main thing right now is budget, and looks like these can be easily converted to HID later on if I decide to.

LED all they way,but get good ones as cheap LED's are well cheap and suck.

I just installed a Vision X Patriot 35 degree flood beam LED bar on my KJ and it blows away my 2 KC 50watt HID's.That one lightbar(12" wide) has the same light output equal to 12 average halogen 65watt high beam bulbs but only draws 10 amps(12 10watt LED's).I will be replacing my HID Daylighters soon with some of Vision X's 70watt seven LED spots.Yeah expensive but worth it for a 50,000 hour life, maybe 2000-3000 hours for HID's and 250 hours for halogens.

Can you give more detail on how you mounted those? Maybe some pics?

Have to agree with you on LED's being the ultimate way to go. I am a volunteer firefighter and use nothing but led for my emergency lighting, but man those Vision X cost  . Maybe one of these days though! Awesome KJ by the way!

The cost if quality LED's are really not that much more then quality HID offroad lights.

Aren't you worried about theft? I wouldn't want to ever park my Jeep anywhere but a locked garage with that much money in lights on it.
Maybe just paranoid but i had my Allpro prerunner bumper stolen off my tacoma right in front of my house at night, while i was home. :furious:
