Thoughts on the Chips?
There are 3 now
Stage 1
Stage 2 (requires premium)
V-Force Performance Module

Are these worth it? Which would someone recommend and why?

After looking into it I was thinking about going with the stage1 so that I dont have to use premium gas but can still get the hp and mgp increase.

I am interested in the V-Force but is it just a monitoring module or does it modify the singlal also?

Chips and such do help. When from a known company. those 20 bucks ones on ebay garbage.

I had an edge evo in my F150 was very happy with it.
Have not chipped the jeep yet but when I do it will be the jet chip. I'll prob just go with the stage one.

I spoke to the guy at JEt and he said the module requires 2 wires to be spliced into and only give about 8hp gain.
The stage 2 gives 14hp and 12torque but required premium fuel.

idk what to do.....hp with premium gas or monitoring with low hp gain but I get to use reg.

IDK!!!

Prob worth going stage 2 then. I tend to run 87 but last night filled up with 93 for the heck of it.
The little extra isn't such a big deal to pay for better gas.

Plus with the chip you'll make more power and gain torque.
And have a motor that runs better and hopfully because of that will see an increase in MPG's

With the edge I had in my F150 I saw about 3-5 MPG over stock running 93.
The basic tune for 87 made a difference but not a difference qworth the 400 bucks I spent on the programer.

Unless you change the programming inside the PCM the PCM will "learn" around any plug in chip after about 7-10 days and go back to it's original programming.

The one good thing with the Jet chips is the trans programming which does not get "learned" around for better shifts, sadly only really works with the 45RFE trans though('02 KJ's).

Myth.

Otherwise the pcm would overcome a bad temp sensor, a maf thats out of calibration, or low or high fuel pressure without setting a lean or rich code.
Well placed resistors can help or kill a motor.

Actually fact,I have the stage II chip and besides the trans shifting there is no change when I remove it.

See then there is really no use for me. I have a 5-speed manual trans. So shift points are up to me. I was doing ti for the peramiters in the engine to be changed that I dont have control over.

What about your thoughts on the V-power module?
87gas
8hp
and monitoring system

I've read that JET advertises their performance gains based on the WOT numbers. So unless your foot is on the floor all the time, don't expect much difference.

I've actually dyno'd the Stage 1. It was good for a loss of 5 rwhp at wot. That was a long time ago with an '02 with the 45RFE, so your milage may vary with a newer chip and PCM. Trying to work with them really didn't go well. I don't plan on discussing that whole situation again. I'd highly recommend getting your PCM reprogrammed instead of trying to trick it with a chip.

So would the Jet Chip even help the shifting in the >2008 KK? This transmission seems like its in between gears a lot. I plan on doing occasional boat towing (about 2000lbs).

Just got the chip....finally. Installed it in the parking lot of my office during lunch.
Took it home and felt the power right off the bat.
I am using the 93oct (only thing to get here in LI NY)

Highway I went from 18 to 20 (approx)
city from 14.5 to 16.6 (approx)

I say totally worth it.

I keep going back and forth on a Jet chip for my 02. All I've done on that end is a Borla dual Catback and an AEM bruteforce intake. Good to hear the Stage 2 seems beneficial. I wish there was a tuner like the SCT I have for my Ranger. I had someone program three custom tunes in addition to the generic ones that came on it and takes about 2 minutes to flash the PCM. There is a huge difference going from factory setting to the 93 torque program. And I've got an 87 and 93 performance tune too. Anyone know of anything like that for the KJ?

02 blue,
Through all my years of looking I have found 1 place to send your PCm too (not doing that, cause she is my daily driver) and then Jet Performance. I do notice a difference but people do say that the computer learns around this.

One of my buddies who has the chip told me that he disconnects his negative approx. once a month to reset the computer.

Who knows at this point!

Mines a daily driver, too, so I'm not willing to send my PCM out either. I may give the JET a try anyway. I've heard the chips are "temporary" too. One reason I haven't gotten one yet. We're making these vehicles to darn smart anymore.

I'm sure if a good tuner does show up on the market I'll hear all about it on a forum like this. Just have to be patient for now. Hope my 02 with 145k lasts that long. I don't exactly baby it

if my speedometer has not been calibrated to my new tire size, is it safe to say that my odometer and MPG readings are also incorrect? specifically, the odometer would read less than my actual distance traveled, and so my MPGs would read lower than what i am actually getting?

im trying to reestablish new stats for my jeep with and without the JET stage 2 since i installed the lift and bigger tires
