I dont wheel much past dirt/rocky roads and pastures anymore. But might one day. What im wondering are the duratracs worth the 45 x 5 tires for my needs? I definitely want them, but with money tight and not really wheeling im wondering if I should just go with the cheaper grabbers and call it a day.

How well do the duratracs wear and how many miles do yall think you can get with them?

love my grabbers, so far the only issue I have had it if you want to call it an issue is the tread pattern. Very open and I often find large stones stuck inbetween the treads. But they are great and should be good for 50k miles.

Mine have 37,000 on them, new they came with 18/32s of tread, measured on my tread guage. Currently they have between 12/32 and 13/32 on the average. 50,000 miles will be easy to get
Rotations are key to any tire in getting good mileage

Awesome news! I know the grabbers will last a good long while, but I have been thinking more and more about the duratracs despite the lack of offroading I do. I have an email conversation with kolak and when I get the final price for the WJ overhaul Ill decide if Im getting the grabbers or the duratracs as I also am going to 16s (HATE HATE HATE 17s) so I need to budget for soft 8s (moabs wont work sadly). Thanks yall!

Only complaint i have about my grabbers, is the weak and thin sidewalls. i got a snakebite on a brand new one, less then 500 miles on it, while slowly driving over some small rocks. other then that, they're awesome! cheap, and they do well in everything i've had them in, even mud. they pack like hell in the really really thick mud, which is expected with a AT.

Yeah which is why Im on the fence. Really Im leaning more towards the grabbers as my budget got eaten into with the lift.

The ones Im getting are the 10 ply e rating (plan on doing some towing) which are kinda overkill even for a WJ towing at the max. But I like to have a bit of leway and the E rated tires are $148 a pop. As for not doing well in thick mud, well I wouldnt expect an AT tire to do well there and I would definitely get the duratracs if I wheeled more often. But alas I dont and my budget being shot and realizing the duratracs will be overkill for my needs I think Ill be happy with the grabbers.

Plus they are supposedly a better version of the BFG TAKOs which I had for well over 30k miles that never did me wrong. SO I think Ill be happy. Sad I wont get the duratracs I really wanted, but such is life and I cant go too crazy with a newborn relying on my money.

Grabbers all the way.
2nd set and I got 60k outta the first set with proper rotating (every 6k) and aligning (every 6K)

the one's that got the snakebite were the 10ply E rated ones as well. Might of just been a fluke, either way it sucked to ruin a brand new tire.

I did something similar to my D rated BFG TAKOs but didnt ruin the tire.

was right in the middle of the sidewall and it was a slice about an inch long. Was too risky to patch so i just got a new tire instead.

Yeah I have never tried to repair sidewall damage. I always just get a new tire.
