Greetings everyone. I checked back to 2008 in the FAQ's to see if this was covered. It was but not resolved. Google shows this is a common issue in higher mileage KJs. Ok, what I have is an '02 Limited with 183K miles on it. A few years ago, I was getting the light at idle wether the engine was warm or cold. A mechanical gague check showed pressure was good. I can't remember what the actual reading was, like I said, it was a few years ago. I changed the pressure switch with a new one from O'Reilleys and the problem was reversed. I get no light at idle when cold or hot, but when the engine is cold I get a light at about 2K rpm. When the engine drops back to idle, the light goes out. Now, once the engine warms up there the light goes out and stays out. It's been like this for at least 2 years and is driven daily. The engine has run fine with no noises. I have just ignored the light, but I'm passing the Lib onto my girl and would like to take care of any loose ends. So, has anyone found a fix for this yet? TIA.

I was advised by several service techs to stay away from cheaps sensors at the local parts stores for pretty much the same reasons you just described. My '02 sport had the same problem but the sensor was faulty and oil was leaking into it causing the problem. Spent $45 for a new factory sensor and the problem hasn't returned.

If it were me I'd just replace the oil sensor with one from the dealership parts dept. and see what happens. Definitely want it to work correctly so that when it comes on she knows to pull over and shut it down or have it checked out rather than continue driving until something bad happens to the motor. Just my :2cents: .

I've been suspecting the sensor since I changed it. It just doesn't make sense the way it's throwing the light. Thanks for the info.

I had the exact same issue. Sensor alarming at low RPM and leaking. Oil pressure was okay. Replaced with cheapie. Light at 2K RPM. Annoyed for two months. Replaced with factory sensor. Problem solved.

I found out that my aftermarket one was called direct fit (and did "fit") but was designed for gauge readout.
