| Post subject: | Possible transmission issue? |
Hey guys, 1st post here, have been lurking for a bit reading up on things. I have an '04 auto with 95k km's on it (58k mi) which I picked up a few months ago (at 92k, don't drive much). I've changed oil, coolant/hoses, thermostat, diffs, xfer case oil, plugs, air filter, brake fluid, p/s fluid since I got the jeep, with some help from this site! My concern is I've noticed every so often when coming to a slow speed (rolling stop) off throttle then lightly back on, the transmission seems to be in-between gears for a second, the engine revs and I hear a bit of a whirr, before it decides on a gear. This has happened a handful of times, more often when cold but a few times even when fully warmed. No other symptoms or issues, generally everything is shifting smooth and quiet. I didn't know whether the PO had the trans serviced so I took it to a dealer the other day for servicing. They flushed and filled the tranny but unfortunately didn't change the filter Any ideas? "Normal" for this tranny? Thanks! |

Kinda a normal issue sometimes for the 42RLE.You can check with the dealership to see if any flashes are available for the trans for similar issues. |

yes kind of normal, I have noticed mine doing the same thing every now and again for over 160,000 miles, nothing I ever found would make itdo it more or less, just every once in a while. I chaulk it up to the uniqueness of the KJ

Mine does this too, didn't know if it was normal or not. Guess I'll just keep an eye on the thread to see what others say. |

Mine has been doing this since new to the 183K miles it has now. I would say it's normal. Reflashes waaaay back when it was still under warranty did little to change it. |

Thanks for the replies. I took it out for a good rip on the highway yesterday and did some full-throttle accelerations, not sure but it seems that the tranny may have readjusted itself slightly - perhaps with the fresh fluid, shifts were all good and it didn't act up at all. |
