| Post subject: | Removing headliner/leaky sunroof hose |
Hi, Anyone out there removed their headliner? How bad was it? Seems the hose that runs from the sunroof to the rear right of the Jeep is tweaked, making it rain in my Jeep lately. A shop told me $170 for the labor to remove the headliner, $15 for the hose, and who knows besides that. For at least $200 I think I feel adventerous...If I jack it up I can give it back to them. (My dealer told me no warranty on this) Any helpful hints? Thanks. |

I would try another dealer first. Unless your warranty is passed mileage wise. I'd agree it doesn't fall under the 7/70. I don't know how hard it would be to take it out, but I would presume you would have to atleast have to take out the other trim as well, since the headliner is behind those pieces. Good Luck!! |

I always wondered if our sunroof had those hoses. I would never let the dealer touch my headliner. Its untelling how many hand prints would be on it after they got done. I do not believe it would be that hard, would take alot of time though. Are you sure they run out the back and not done the A pillar? Which one do you think it is? B pillar or C? |

I'm at 57K so most warranty stuff has been over for a while now. It was fun while it lasted! There are four hoses, one draining to each corner somewhere by the inside of the bumpers. I'm going to try a dealer in the town I work in too just in case. I'll probably order the part, take off the trim and headliner and hope it all goes back. At least I know I won't leave handprints. Ooohh if they stain it, I get a new one free right? |

Per the drawings in the FSM there appears to be only 2 drain hoses, both on the passenger side, the front goes down the A pillar, the rear goes down the side of the C pillar, but both require headliner removal Bob |

One suggestion: you might try accessing the hoses at the sunroof and blowing some compressed air through them to see if you can clear them thataway... |

Did that. Not sure if it helped or compacted anything that might be stuck in there. I'll find out though. That reminds me...thank you guy whose name I can't remember who I bought the rear liner from last year. I much prefer towling up water from the liner than trying to wring out the carpet. |
