I was backing up a trailer this morning in my yard and switched it in 4lo. When I was done I switched it back into 2wd but the part time indicator was on. I thought it was a glitch until I went to make a sharper turn on pavement and noticed the front wheel dragging like it was in 4hi. I shifted it back and forth from 4hi to 2hi, but I don't feel any disengagement. Any possible solutions will help.

Do you have the NP242 with the full time 4wd option?

No I have the np231 part time. It will go into 4hi and 4lo but not 2wd.

Have you checked for the obvious stuff yet ?? i.e. linkage jammed up, something loose or out of place, fluid level in the T-case.
