I am currently on the process on buying my first car and I have two offers right now.

The first one is a Jeep 2005 Grand Cherokee, Laredo. 4WD with 100k miles. Price is $7450 (It's a dealer, 3 month insurance is included for everything)
The second one is a 2004 Jeep Liberty Renegade (RWD), 88k miles and price is $7300

Which one should I buy?
I don't really mind for the gas mileage. School is 10mn away and workplace is 3mn away

What engine does the gc have? Persoanlly I'd go for the one that is in better shape. I'm always a fan of lower miles. If the gc has the 3.7 persoanlly I don't see any pro's of getting the gc.

Yes, both are V6 - 3.7
The GC is bigger, though. Isn't that an advantage?

And the fact that the Liberty is RWD is not an issue?

If the KJ is only two wheel drive then depending on what you want to do with it and where you live that could make a difference

It's just a car for work/school.
I'm not considering the Jeeps only. I've also seen a Hyundai Tucson, 2006 for $7000

I'm just coming from the test drive of the liberty and I'm not taking it:

* Weird sound when I accelerate
* Mirror is not working
* Message saying: " bad or missing sensor " when I turn on the car

Plus it's very noisy
I drove the 05 Jeep GC, it's way, more quieter but the wheel is.. light. Is that normal?

Get the GC, 2wd ain't a Jeep.

X3, boycott 2wd jeeps! They should know better...

Before you drop $8k on a chariot, have it checked out by a trusted mechanic. Tell them you're thinking about buying it, and tell them to check it over like they would if their own kid was buying it. It might cost you a hundred bucks or so; it might not (some will do it for the prospect of having a new customer). They might point out some "negotiating points" that you can use at the bargaining table too. If the dealer won't let you have it looked at by a third party, RUN!
