Once I get going I feel the jeep start to wobble or bounce a little and it goes away. At higher speeds I hear a whomp whomp sound as the tires rotate. I had an alignment done, wheel balance and rotation and it is still there. I checked front and rear drive shafts and they look fine. CVs look fine too, boots aren't torn and little to no play in the axles near the front diff. I am thinking either ball joints or worn wheel bearings. How do I check if the bearings are bad. I read online to lift the jeep up and push the wheel in and out to check for play? is that right? I have a set of Moog lowers joints just waiting for some time to put them in.

Well went on youtube and found a bunch of videos on how to check and replace hubs. Timken has some videos on there that were helpful. Also I found a good video for how to check the lower ball joint....I was doing it wrong. haha.

Leaning toward the bearings, but check the LBJ's anyway, and replace since you already have them. :)

Thanks for that.

I checked them last night, spun the wheels and no noise other then brake pad sliding over the rotor. Then I did the horizontal check for movement and after about 10 minutes I concluded that I may be feeling a bit of movement on the drivers side. Very minimal but maybe that is all you need to make a difference. Also checked the LBJ and drivers side solid but the passenger side does have a little play. I will be swapping them in a few weeks and when I do I will pull the half shafts to inspect. After all that if I still have the issue then I will probably pick up the drivers side hub swap and test.
