Hi everyone,
About 2500 miles ago (September 1) I had new brake pads and rotors installed at a good local shop. I've never done brake work myself, although it's something I would like to learn how to do eventually. Recently, my front brakes have developed a metallic click noise when engaging at low speed. It sounds/feels almost like something in the front brakes shifts slightly before the pads fully grab the rotors. I can hear it best with the windows open. It is a single click, not something that happens repeatedly with wheel rotation. I can't hear it at highway speeds, probably because of the road and wind noise. There is no loss of braking performance. 1) Should I be alarmed? 2) What do you think it is? Is it something I can tighten up myself, or should I bring it back to the shop?
Thanks, --LFH

I "chased" what sounds to the same exact thing for quite some time. My problem turned out to be the brake caliper guide pins needed to be greased.
