| Post subject: | BRAIN BOX PROBLEM |
THANKS FOR YOUR QUICK RESPONSE ON MY EARLIER POST. RECENTLY I NOTICED THAT MY 2002 LIBERTY JEEP 'SPURTS' INTERMITENTLY WHEN REVVED AND SOMETIMES SHARPLY DROPS SPEED BUD PICKS UP UNDER A SECOND. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC/ELECTRICIAN AND AFTER CHECKING THE NOZZLES AND COILS, THEY DIAGONISED THAT THE FAULT IS WITH THE BRAIN BOX. NOW, AM FACED WITH MORE PROBLEMS - HOW AND WHERE TO GET A NEW BRAIN BOX, HOW TO FIX IT WITH MY PRESENT KEY, WHICH I DO NOT KNOW IF IT HAS A CODE.... PLEASE ADVISE ON WHAT TO DO. THANKS. |

Are you sure it is the ECM? What codes is it throwing? I had a similar problem and I poked around near the power control module until I found that the engine would stall if I flexed the wires a certain way. I was able to fix it by basically flipping the PCM over and finding the bad connection. I also put a little dielectric grease on the main power bus. The ECM will act funny if it isn't getting full voltage, and that could be from a corroded connection. |
