| Post subject: | Damaged brake caliper? |
I have been experiencing a squeeling noise coming from my front passanger side. It sounds like brake squeel. Some times it is not there until I drive for a bit but lately it is always there. The squeel goes away when I lightly press the brake pedal. The pads still have life left in them. I am trying to diagnose the issue before buying all new parts. Could it simply be cheap brake pads or rotors? a warped rotor, or a dragging brake pad caused by a broken caliper that isnt fully releasing? Thanks |

spreading anti seize on the back of the pads... not were the pads touch the rotor.. the other side... could just be vibrations between pads and caliper... it solved my sqeaky brakes... you can also add it and the slides as well |

Never use anti-seize on any brake parts,be it pads or slides.That stuff will either melt off from heat if applied to back of the pads,then end up on the rotors,or harden/gum up when used in the caliper slides causing the calipers to drag. Use the correct silicone based brake grease. |

Yeah, NAPA Brake grease is good and cheap. Definitely go with brake grease. |

Maybe remove your tire and inspect your brake caliper to make sure that it is clear of debris, moves correctly and there no corrosion on the moving parts. I had that same intermittent squeal problem a few years ago and I ended up replacing the whole caliper on the passenger side.It wasn't that expensive from NAPA. One of the caliper slider bushings got rusty and it never really slid in and out normally even after cleaning the rust off and adding brake grease. My brake pads kept wearing out unevenly and prematurely. |
