I am in the process of installing a lift in my 2005 CRD.
The right side strut nuts are covered by the power steering reservoir bracket. I was only able to find this issue discussed in two posts, namely:
viewtopic.php?t=29217where tonycrd simply says to remove the plate by removing 3 nuts and a bolt (see the 9th and 10th photos from the top); and,
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7029where CRD4ME discusses removing "the nut" and bending the cover plate enough to get access (see item number 4 in the opening post).
The 2005 factory service manual does not even discuss the power steering plate, it says to "Remove the two cruise control servo mounting nuts" (see 2005 manual, page 2-15, step 2), which does not seem like it would really help at all, since that bracket is four inches or so outboard of the mounting nuts, and they are still covered by the power steering bracket..
there have to be more than two people out there who have solved this issue, are there any other suggestions? Is there an easy way to get to the other fasteners securing the PS reservoir mounting plate? If I bent it out of the way, will it behave nicely when I bend it back? Are there any other solutions besides the two I have mentioned above?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, pictures would be even better.
Thanks.
