What a DIC*HEAD cop! Of course, it's always the rookies with something to prove. At that point, everybody is guilty, regardless of the circumstances. It takes a seasoned veteran to determine when it's appropriate not to write a ticket.

Right? He didn't learn his lesson by almost losing his child and his Jeep being totaled. He needs to pay a fine.

A seasoned "public service" - minded officer would see how shaken up the man was, and call it fair.
