Hi,
I bought my 2002 about two weeks ago and already broke it, went through some tall grass and killed the pionion seal.... discovered that I have the 8.25 differential rather than whatever the other one is...... how do I find out what other specs belong with my Jeep, the owners manual is of no help in this area....my Liberty was built in March of 02 I think.... I dont want to have to run into the situation I did this weekend where I ended up with the wrong part and had to find the right part at another parts store.... I do have to say I was being good and didnt let my brother take my Jeep and play with it, who figured I would break it just driving through 4 ft tall grass??????
Thanks :D

you can get a part number cd on E-Bay I have one for my o5... not sure if your pinion seal is the same p/n as mine though...
call a jeep/ mopar dealer and they can get you the correct one you may need to provide a vin as well as yr/mk/model info so write it down before you call (saves some time)
... hope that helped...

Hey I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but I can pull up the Options list on your KJ. All I need is the last 8 of the vin and milage. It tells you what options it has and what rear end, gear ratio, etc. If your interested drop me a line and I'll look it up for you.

Are you sure that it wasn't just coincidence? Alot of the guys here beat the hell out of our KJs and they keep on ticking.. I doubt some grass is gonna hurt anything that wasn't about to fail anyway.

There's service manuals and part CD's for the KJ on ebay. I strongly recommend getting one (last I saw it was $10) as they're very much worth it and will give you lots of idea of what you can do to your KJ next.

Thanks for the reply's guys,
The last 8 of my VIN are 22308398, any info you can send me would be greatly appreciated parakeet :D
Adam, all I can tell you is when my mechanic took the seal off, he pulled a nasty compressed ring of grass from around the seal... that was definitely what killed it. Might have been because the grass was four feet high, I dunno, was pretty bummed about it.
