When applying the brakes, I hear a sound that is best described as squeaking rubber but the sound is not continuous but rather it is pulsating. While driving at speed or coasting there is no sound so it is only while the brake pedal is depressed and there is no "feel" of a problem in the pedal. I have had the Liberty for about 1 1/2 years and it has been getting progressively worse. It started with the noise only below 5 mph to a complete stop, but it is to the point that I hear this noise from the moment the brake pedal is pressed. I have had it to a mechanic and the only thing that was found was a broken emergency brake shoe. Looking at the brake pads and rotors, I do not see any problem, and there is still some a lot of brake pad left.

The pulsating affect that I hear makes me think it is something in the anti-lock braking system, but I am not sure. I always thought it was the front left corner but the other night I was playing passenger and thought it was the front right so now I am thinking it is both sides. I am stumped and I figure if a Liberty has had this problem in the past, this is the place to ask. Any ideas?
