Just giving my new to me 06 Renegade the once over and noticed the engine oil viscosity is 5-30 as apposed to 5-20 for my 07 sport.
Is there a particular reason for this? Can I run 5-20 in the Renegade?
Both are 3.7 gas.

I would run 5-30 before I would run 5-20
They did that ( change to 5-20) to try and get that extra 1/10 of a gallon more mileage out of the 3.7

I would be more worried about the oil brand and additive package. The Amsoil 5W20 and 5W30 both have a superior additive package, especially in the signature series. They both produce good UOA's. You will get better mileage and cold weather startups from the 5W20.
