Post subject: | Alignment Specs (again...) |
From everything I have read on here (a lot from Troy) the CASTER cannot be adjusted per se, it is a product of toe and camber... is that true? To get my Jeep licensed in Hawaii, I need to have a reconstruction inspection (meaning they make sure I am still legal) One of the things they check is my alignment. I have had my jeep aligned three different times (at three different Firestones) since my OME lift, and the caster has always been in the "red." Is there any suggestions I can tell a different alignment shop that could help? There is no aftermarket solution, so maybe I am just SOL from Hawaii. The jeep drives just great for me, but technically it's not within factory specs. Thanks! |

Do you have JBA upper arms? If not that maybe the only way your going to get the alignment back into specs(maybe,50/50 shot) or remove the lift. With OE upper arms you may or maynot(mostly maynot) get the alignment back into OE specs. In about 100,000 miles you may when those 790's sag some but not in the near future. You could always use the excuss that your lifted and OE specs no longer apply or have them change the caster specs before the alignment in the alignment rack computer(it can be done easily) so your caster is in the green. Camber and caster are set by the front LCA cam bolts, camber is more important as it is a tire wearing angle.Always sacrific caster for camber. |

Thanks! I didn't know jba arms have a chance of helping... I have 30 days to get the arms shipped here and installed all while living in a hotel with my tools in storage. I told the inspector about it being basically impossible, he told me to remove the lift then ![]() Could you explain changing the specs in the computer? That means basically I'd have to find a shady shop to do the alignment right? Thanks again |

Found a shop to get me aligned. 110$ later and now I can get legally registered. |
