Anyone know where to get one for a good price?? Pan is rusting out in the middle!! No leak from the gasket at all, starting to leak through the thin metal!!

i bought a spare a few years back straight from the dealer pretty cheap. If I had a skid protecting mine, i'd offer you my spare...

So they use the 42rle on the newer jeeps too?? This is on a 2004 KJ with 197k!!! didn't they use a 45 something in there too? I remember the first time I did the filter on her jeep it took me about three different filters to get the correct one!! Even the dealer gave me the wrong one at first.

Yes to both questions. 42 in my 08 KK and some years KJ had 45.

2002 to early 2003 KJs had the 45RFE.

My tranny pan is starting to rust. More of surface rust, but I do have a Tranny skid on my KJ. I have a 2006 KJ but was built in October 2005.

This 04 KJ with the 42rle has almost every skid, except for the tranny and the front one....which wouldn't have helped at all with the dent we have in the beefy front Xmember anyways. To me, it just looked like surface rust/paint peeling. However, it's all dry around the gasket and oily near the rust!!

Anyways, picked up the pan from the stealership for about 47 bucks, but where the dimple was on the old one for the donut magnet, it's a depression....is this a problem?? Magnet should still stay in place, right?

If you have some 'seal all' you could use that to glue it. I didn't install mine since my KK doesn't have a dipstick I had Trans serviced at dealer and they installed new pan.

No dipstick?!?! WTF!! Craziness!!

I ended up just putting it where the depression was, it's a fairly strong magnet so I doubt that it will move around. Strange that the stock one had a dimple to locate the donut but this one doesn't?? Oh well, no more leaky, and tranny shifting nice!

You can buy the 42RLE aluminum transmission pan from PML directly. They sell the pan in all cast or in a black powder coat. The pan is slightly deeper, fits under the OE skid and has a magnetic drain plug.

aren't these a lot more than 47 dollars. I did check around before replacing mine. Just no money.
They claim to have removed the dipstick because people over filled Trans. Dealer has a probe that they can tell when correct fill is done.

They are $210 for the as-cast finish. You can use a normal dipstick, or you can buy the measuring tool yourself. The dealer said there would be little to no difference when using the aftermarket pan. The dealer also said it's better to be a little over than to be a little under.

Yep those are the ones I found. I did want one too. That would have made my bill over 400 dollars. That's most of my unemployment for a month. My KK has a extended warranty so I'd have the dealer do the service. They record it so I shouldn't have any issues if I have a claim.
The OP did ask for a good price so I only mentioned MOPAR.
