Ok, I have about $350 to spend on toys and I'm trying to figure out what to get with it. I'm probably going to spend some of it on one of those compressors everyone has been raving about (the ~$50 one the people have found at Checkers. The manufacturer says I should be able to find it at Pep Boys.) On board air is on my list anyway as I'd like to eventually add an ARB to the rear.

Any ideas on what to buy?

Jokes are cool, but try to give a few serious suggestions too. ;)

You'll most likely have to get the ARB compressor to operate the ARB lockers, but the MV-50 you're talking about is a great unit for airing up your tires. LilMatty has ARB lockers with the ARB compressor but still uses the MV-50 to air up.

As for what to get, well, $350 kinda limits most off-road mods... do you have skids? Rocker panel protection? $350 is just enough to get a set of boulder bars with shipping!

Then there's always a charitable donation to the "Hammer Fund".

No? How about a iPod?

I'm sure you'll find something cool to buy....

I'd start off with some Boulder Bars or a super skid ...but thats just me.

As for "onboard air" just leave the compressor in it's little bag....it's still "onboard" just in the back with the ice chest 8)

Let's see:

What do you already have for your KJ, Jeremy? I know you got the lift, cb, gps, and........

Options (if you don't have yet)
1. Full armor underneath
2. Side protection
3. Roof Rack (nice for carrying extra stuff to Moab)
4. Fog lights (just so you can look cool) Not much use in the big city of San Anotnio.
5. Rear Hitch
6. Front Hitch
7. Hi Lift
8. Stock up on the small things (fire extinguisher, first aid kit, 3 or 4 D mag light and the mount, collapsible shovel (Gerber makes a version of the military E-tool), etc...)
9. spare windshield
10. use the money as a down on the ARB system and charge the rest. Enjoy now and pay for it over the next 6 months.
11. cool camping gear to take to Moab
12. Cool Jeep gear
13. Cool LOST gear
14. Buy everyone a round at the Pizza place in Moab 2006.

I have full skids, BoulderBars, etc, and a lift. My tires are pretty good too. I even have some lighting.

I did go ahead and buy the compressor today. It's the MasterFlow MF-1050 (exactly the same as the SuperFlow MV-50) and is for sale at Pep-Boys for $59 (plus tax, minus military discount I ended up at $58 out the door; not too shabby.) From what I've read about the ARB compressors they are actually fairly light duty. The MasterFlow seems quite beefy, can run continuously for 40 minutes, has a 120psi working pressure and 72lpm max flow, so combined with a 2.5gal tank and a pressure switch I think it would be fine running lockers. Am I wrong?

On the subject of air tanks, where have people been mounting them?

Anyway, I have about $300 left. Any more ideas?

Get that thing that lets you shoot flames out of your exhuast!

I guess if you are being serious then I would get an extra set of steel rims for wheeling or try to pick up a used
roof rack or con a dealer into giving you a new one for that price. Upgrading the stereo is not a bad idea either.
I pimped my ride (thanks X) with a Clarion deck and couldn't be happier with the sound...

You could get a ton of beer!

The roof rack from BVG (the one I have) is under $150.

I still think you should buy a round for everyone at Moab `06 with the money.... :D

Joe: Good list, but I have everything on it except for the spare windshield (yes, I even have the little Gerber folding shovel,) and I don't know how long it will be 'till I'm back in Moab. (I promise I'll buy you a drink.)

02LIBERT: The All-J rack is awesome, but I'm actually in the process of building some drawers on the cargo floor so I don't really need a rack in there too.

Neatus: Yeah! Flames!! ;) I thought about some steel wheels, but until I move out of my duplex and into a real house I don't have room to store them anywhere, that's why I got rid of the last set I had. My wife says no to stacking them next to the dining room table. :) I really want a roof rack, but If I put one on I'll no longer clear the parking garage at work. Stupid parking garages... Some stereo upgrades would be nice. I'm starting to realize that I already have all of the "less" expensive wheeling toys and all that's left is the really pricey stuff.

Thanks for all the help so far guys. :)

Jeremy.....get rid of the dining room table, buy some ply board, cut it round (about 48" should do for the two of you) and place it on top of the wheels and there you have a dining table (table cloth makes for a nice touch and hides the dirt on the wheels). When you need to place them on the KJ, you don't need a dining table because you are out of the house, off-roading. Just remove the plyboard top and set it aside. 8)
