My Steering Rack isolator bushings have gone. Mainly the driver's side. I saw the Band-aid link on here, looks pretty neat. My question is, can I get the old bushing out/new bushing in without pulling the rack? I'm swapping the DS CV axle out on Monday, so I wanted to do this at the same time. The guy at the shop where I got my new tires says it won't do much good to get an alignment while that bushing is bad, but I've got to get it done, the 3" of Frankenlift has already ate one front set due to my neglect. (stupid me) So I guess two questons,
1.) can I get the bushings out/back in without pulling the rack while I'm swapping the CV.
2.) If I can't, can I have an alignment done and it hold tow?

I have very little knowledge, but I can turn a wrench, so I depend on this awesome forum to help answer these kinds of questions. Thanks all in advance.

No, you don't need to pull the rack.

Loosen both 24mm bolts holding the rack to the crossmember so you can rotate the rack toward the back of the Jeep. Press out the old bushings using a socket slightly smaller than the opening in the rack. Press in the new bushings using the bolt to help out the last few millimeters.

Do I need to pull anything else? I'll already have the tie rods loose for the CV repair. Thanks for the reply.

Also loosen and remove the rag joint on the steering column
Check the PS lines also depends on how you move it maybe able to wiggle it enough but I think I'd remove them just to be safe.
That way you can move it where you can work on it easily

I'm not sure what the rag joint is
