Wow  I hope my Libby can last as long as that wrangler!

When I went up to school in Colorado the sports car I had did not cut it unless I wanted to do allot of walking. Traded a family member for a Honda Passport with 4wd. It got hit by a land cruiser 9 month later and insurance totaled it out

My first 4x4 was a 2000 XJ that I picked up in 2009. I used it for two summers of forestry work in the mountains of WV, and the rest of the time it was my daily driver. I loved that XJ, and she never let me down by getting stuck (although she was a high maintenance girl). I fixed the XJ up until finally everything was running smoothly (a very long list), but then she was totaled by a hit and run driver in 2011. :dead: I had just replaced a cracked cylinder head 10 days earlier. I wanted to find another one, but then even the newest XJ was a decade old. I didn't want to start over repairing everything again, so I ended up going with a 2008 KK instead. I've been really happy with it so far, and I've been able to buy it some cool upgrades (skids, rock rails, CB, etc.) rather than spending all my :2cents: fixing stuff that breaks! After a year and a half with the KK I finally feel like it's my 4x4, although whenever a burgundy XJ drives by I remember how much I miss it! :JEEPIN: Maybe someday I will find a good XJ for a fun project vehicle, something like KJWildman's Deerkiller.

Brand new (to me)

67 Toyota Landcruiser in Colorado. 6-cylinder, 3 on the tree..It had a vinyl top.

My buddy who had driven a bus in Vietnam could shift into the non-synchro 1st gear everytime; I almost always ground gears. Later I sold it to him.

I had gone to the Toyota dealer to check out a Scout they had advertised. It had been sold and they had the LC.

My first vehicle with 4 wheel drive was not a true 4x4 more like all wheel drive, 2003 Subaru Outback Limited Sedan. I like the car plenty well but decided I wanted something more rugged that could tow more and do some off road and wasn't too hungry for fuel. which got me into my first real 4x4 my 2006 Liberty CRD in August 2009

Here is a pic of the Outback. I did like it and would buy a subie again if I were to have to go back to a car I guess

Here is a pic of my Liberty taken this Monday a day after the OME lift was installed and it had not yet had an alignment.

This is what it looked like not long after I bought it

86 Chevy 1/2 ton 305 with the 700r auto. Guy thought it was blown up dad and I bought it, put on new vac lines and it ran like new. Good truck until I put it over a bridge a year later. Trend I followed for a couple years hate to say. Had three s-10 blazers and a couple other 4x4s over the years (at 28 I have owned more vehicles than most grand parents.) My Libby is def one of the best though

My first was my first vehicle. It was a 1993 Jeep cherokee sport. It was pretty nice for what it was, I worked hard to get it, had a paper route and everything!

1976 Ford F100 Ranger
Faded red, 390 V8 4 speed w/granny gear High boy suspension 3/4 ton rear 1/2 ton front (originally built as tow truck with a truck bed). Twisted Frame, Speedo gear apple cored, and shorted out brake lights, but no stopping that 390! Motor still runs today...in an AMC Pacer!

Miss that one the most... I think shifting it with Tricia in the middle of the bench seat made me stuck with her...

15 yrs later, Got Tricia, but no more Ford...

Hey, my names Brian and this'll be my first post here: my first 4wd was my first car (truck) actually. Back in high school in 97 I bought a 1977 dodge powerwagon, lifted on 33's, 360 ci, beater of an awesome truck from a family friend. Had so much fun in "ol' Dixie" as we called her. I'm planning on getting a kj soon, but until then my 4x is an 06 Subaru wrx wagon. Definitely not a crawler:^)

My KJ is my first. We had some family 4x4s when I was younger and I lived it home, but this is the first one I went out and bought. I love it. Will keep it till its dead.

Got my first right out of college: a tan 2-door 1986 Isuzu Trooper II, 5-spd stick. With the crappy GM 2.3L 4-cylinder that ate exhaust valves for lunch. When it burned them up for the third time with 160,000 miles on it, I had to scrap it. I loved it, though; I could move a TON of stuff in and on it.

Nothing but cars and AWD since until my Liberty.

94 S-10, that was the first year of the new body style, 4.3L V6, Long bed 4x4. It was in this truck that I learned that 4 wheel drive doesn't drive all 4 wheels!!

a '75 GMC Jimmy, 350cid, full-time 4X4. What a gas-guzzling pig it was, needed a ladder to board, bled me dry on maintenance. Gee, I miss it.... :ROTFL:

I'll Never forget growing up helping my dad build the 1957 Chevy Panel Wagon, we put a 390 big block in it lowered the gears, that thing was so HEAVY and just crawled. I remember driving in 98' in a blizzard when I lived in Larkspur CO going through about 4-5 ft drifts no chains! But my first 4x4 i owned was a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee forest green with 4" lift.
