Ok so what was the first 4x4 you ever owned, and what 4x4 are you most fond of that you've owned?

My first was a 1983 S-10 Blazer 4x4. Thing looked like it was a turd. But I never could kill that engine. It ran forever. It lived through me being 16 & jumping it on Moms farm lol. No mods....it was stock.

I used to have a 93 YJ with the four popper. It was a fun rig. Painted it OD green. I bought some 32" super swampers, trimmed the fenders and ran them forever. I learned alot with that Jeep.

Brand new 87 Chevy S-10, bright red. Lifted it week two of owning it.

Oops i messed up the S- 10 was the second. I did own a 76 IH Scout for about a week untill it rained and the water came rolling in through the roof. Lol I took it back to the dealer.

A 1986 Ford Ranger. It had the 2.8 which I'm pretty sure ran on Squirrels. It had 31's on it and 4 inch lift when i got it for 400 bucks from a neighbor. The thing was a tank offroad, but unfortunately also a tank on the highway:( Fondest was a 1988 S-10 Blazer. It had the small 6 and a five speed, and was pretty much like the Ranger, but I loved it so much more..

my 06 CRD handed down to me from my dad with 140k. put another 30k on it before i got my bimmer. Probably won't get back into a 4x4 for at least 5 years. Probably not until i can afford to have a sporty car as my DD and then a beater jeep/winter jeep. aka way after college :dead:

1966 International Scout.
80 HP 4 cylinder, front & rear posi, triple stick transfer case, 4.11 gears, 15" snow tires all around.
The thing would climb a wall,..... and needed to be going downhill with a strong tailwind to hit 60mph,
but lordy, that was a fun ride.

Bought it in 1978 when I was 16, gave it to my Dad when I went off to college.

Didn't have another 4X4 until I moved to California, when I bought an '84 F-150 short bed.
Came with 33's and a granny low gear box. Spent the better part of 7 years building it into "The Beast".
There are pics here on L.O.S.T. somewhere.
Sold it when I moved to Illinois in '93.

Now I have my Libby... 3 years and counting.....

76 Chevy. Rusted, dented, burnt orange, with a very tired 400 small block. Pa and I transplanted a 350 into it that we built for a car I totaled. That thing had a trans shift kit that shifted hard enough to broil the tires on a high rpm upshift. :SOMBRERO:

My first experiences with driving a truck off road was when I learned to walk a 4x4 thru a lot of stuff with my Pa while hunting. :D I was 12 for the first experience and more lessons all the way thru high school. Still have great memories of those times. Though Pa and I still hunt, the fire roads are kept up way to well for much :JEEPIN:

I learned to drive in a stripped down 67 Bronco. It was our farm truck and it was amazing up an down logging trails.
Next was an 82 full size bronco in high school.
Picked up a junk 87 Isuzu trooper in college. What a pile!
It had been a few years driving fuel efficient hatch-backs until we got our Liberty. It's great to be back in a 4x4.

'79 Dodge W100 Power Wagon (full-time 4wd), originally with a small-block 318 and 2bbl carburetor. Later replaced with 360 engine and 4bbl carburetor after engine fire. Fun pickup with lots of personality, but not the most reliable vehicle in the world. (First that I owned.)

Original old Landrover in 75.....had a six cylinder petrol engine with side-valves...chewed gas and had no power. Most owners dropped 3.8 or 4.1 Chev straight sixes in them to get some power and fuel economy and added an overdrive.

Drove an old Army Jeep in my military training in 1976....lovely open, simple 3 speed. Also drove plenty different Landrovers in the military.

Then had a 2.0 L diesel Landrover Freelander....permanent 4X4 with front wheels doing most of the work with the rear wheels kicking in when front wheels started spinning. Almost got stuck on a beach in it so straight away traded it in on my current 2002 Export 2.5 CRD...best vehicle ever. Driving on beaches here in SA has for a long time now been banned and I spend most of my time on the open road or good gravel roads in the local Game Park.

Intend keeping this KJ for ever...if it gets stolen or written off would replace it with a used 2.8 Auto Ltd. Liberty or one of the older Jeep Grand Cherokee CRDs. :D

Was suppose to end up with my aunt's 1997 TJ Wrangler with 4.0L and 5speed tranny. Sadly I did not and ended up with a Jeep Liberty years later.

Got the Jeep bug riding around in my Aunt's 1993 YJ Islander. She wrecked that one though.

1987 Ford Bronco (full size) Eddie Bauer Eddition. Green with brown trim
V8 302ci with an AOD transmission.

I'm in the process of overhauling it from top to bottom, starting with the engine.

84 Cherokee with the crappy 2.8L. What a piece of crap but it was free from grandma when I turned 16. Got rid of it quick for an 87 Wrangler with the carborated 4.2L which now has over 350K owned by my brothers father in law as his ranch vehicle.
