Post subject:  KK CRD HELP. Runs bad with EGR connected and good without it

Hi all,

on one of my KK´s I have got some issues which I cannot find the answer for. It´s a 2008 CRD which started to hesitate and run poorly at low RPM.

I replaced a split hose (turbo to intercooler) and thought thats it. Well it kept doing it. I cleaned MAF and MAP sensor, Took out the EGR valve and cleaned it, took of the intake (only the top part) and cleaned as much soot as I could but with no result. Changed all filters and oil...

when I disconect the vacuum line going to the EGR the car runs great except that it shows the warning light and sometimes the Limp mode gets activated. VERY ENOYING.

when I reconect the line to the EGR the car becomes undrivable.

There are no codes showing up on the dash.

I really ran out of ideas, the EGR valve didnt look to bad and I reinstalled it after cleaning.

I started thinking its the Cat thats partially blocked and pushes to much exhoust gasses into the engine when the EGR opens up.

Any sugestions, I dont want to take the car to the local dealer as it is such a bad service and they really steal your money.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Steven

Hi Steven,

My best advice is to re-post your question in the CRD section. The general section is mostly for gassers, as is the KK section (because they don't sell KK CRD's in the USA). I bet the people in the CRD section could help you, though. There are people on there who really know that engine inside and out.

Sounds like you need a new EGR, or take a bore brush from a shotgun or something, attach it to a drill, and use that to clean out the EGR tube.

Hi, I replaced the tread in other section. Yesterday I found the fix. Another cracked hose.

Thanks.
