I have oil leaking from somewhere on the driver side. It has gotten really bad lately so must get fixed, but to much old oil to determine where it is coming from. Any ideas. Or something that is a problem in that area. it seems to be about half way down.

kind of help to know front, back, side or what engine
If front could be the oil sending unit, its right above the oil filter on the 3.7, fairly easy to change out
Get some engine degreaser and hose it all off so you can see exactly where its coming from

If it were me, I'd clean it up and then see where it leaked from after a few days. You could take it to a do-it-yourself carwash and use engine degreaser, or use simple green and a garden hose in your driveway. Try not to get the electronic parts of the engine wet, though, and don't use the high pressure wash because that can get water into places where it shouldn't be.

So sorry I'm new to this stuff. I left out important information. Kinda like when I advertised my truck for sale and didn't put the year. Lots of unnecessary calls on that one.

Anyway. it is the 2.8L diesel. What about the uv dye things. I've never tried that stuff before. Does it work?

Hal - anything to do with the diesel - post in 'CRD....love that torque'
you'll get more responses.

- clean the engine is a good idea -

if you haven't fixed the CCV system - the turbo hoses will have lots of oil
