Can you expand on where you got the information for CRD and Renegade models discontinued?

IIRC, those models generally are released later in the model year, are you sure they are discontined? I'd hate to think that the 2005 body style renegade is a 2 year only model, then I'll never see clear turn signals!

WHAT NO CRD??!?! INSANE.

No on the Wrangler, at least for 2007 model year. I believe that the reason for dropping the current Liberty diesel is that it will not meet the new federal standards that go in to effect early next year. A new generation diesel engine, the Bluetec 3.0 V6 CRD, will be introduced in the 2007 Grand Cherokee (see http://www.wkjeeps.com/bluetech.htm). Most likely it would be not be cost effective to engineer the new engine for the 2007 Liberty being that it is in its last year before a complete redesign. It make sense that they will launch the 2008 KK series with a new 3.0 Bluetech model.

What could be the possible purpose for discontinuing the Renegade, because it is a great seller. 05/06 Rene looks great! Unless perhaps, the new liberty sport will blend it's styling with the Rene: ie flat hood, tougher looking flares, etc...more info is needed!

Oh. Renegade will be discontinued. I love my Renny more. :P

Wow. That makes absolutely no sense. I heard of long wait times in order to get a CRD and the majority of new KJs I see are Renegades. I think someone at Jeep is trying to get the Liberty to commit suicide so they can replace it with the Patriot and Wrangler Unlimited.

I have difficulty believing that the CRD adn Renegade will be gone. Maybe a hiatus, but entirely?

Jeep has got to be making a good amount of money from those models, esp the Renegade. I have seen an increasing amount of Renegades out there, esp the 05+ design.

Either way, I hope that this situation doesn't have a negative effect in the aftermarket parts aspect of the Liberty.

Yeah we're gonna need some accurate intel on the discontinuation of Renegade and CRD, both of those are HUGE sellers around here, to discontinue would be suicide for DC....just like when GM discontinued there Caprice and Camaro...even though those issues are bing resolved now, they had HUGE financial issues after that fiasco.

Bad move DC.....bad move. :x

The four door Wrangler is awesome, and the Patriot has potential to be awesome, but the discontinuation of two of the coolest Liberty models is nothing short of total stupidity.

Maybe they will be smart and put the 3.0 Bluetech V-6 in the lib. Then there is only one diesel for 2 vehicles. That should lower the cost of ddevelopment and give the lib more power. Lets hope.

I would not be surprised if the Libby diesel would not meet the new regs. I think it is not clean enough to be sold in about 5 states under the current regs. Can anyone confirm that?

I think the fact that the diesel was never mated to the wrangler line ( where it would have been a killer option) might have been an indicator that this engine was a stop-gap to whet consumer appetites or to gauge sales interest before they committed to a diesel program in the jeep line.

DC may be limiting options as they prepare for the new, probably larger (see Dodge Nitro), KJ or whatever it will be called. That would also explain the Patriot being so close in size to the current KJ. Also, if no one has seen one yet, is it possibe that for '07, all of the KJ's will have the Renny's front end, making a stand-alone model less popular? Just thinking out loud.

I know the CRD is not available in CA. I tried to get one when I was shopping for my Liberty.

The Wrangler will be available with a Diesel outside of North America. There seems to be no slowing down of the expansion of Diesels outside of the US. The US regulations seem to be the show stopper for bringing moreof them here. One thing I think that is very encouraging is that DC claims that Bluetech is 50 states legal, this is huge, there are lots of consumers in the CARB states, if DC can offer diesels there, they should have the sales to justify offering more diesel models.

Our regulations are really hypocritical. The governement yells at manufacturers for not getting good enough gas mileage, and when they correct that with a diesel, then they get yelled at for environmental regs that are extreme. Hopefully they get it worked out because the CRD is awesome.

Outside of North America, the 2.8L diesel will be available in the Liberty for the 2007 model year...

In my understanding, the Renegade model for KJ will only be released at a limited number. When I shopped for my Renegade KJ last year, I was told that there're only 300 Renny in my country (Australia), and 150 of them are in the state I live. After that, there will be no more Renny available and this make this Renny model special. Not sure if this is the same in other country.

i dont understand why they dont just have the sport and limited but then the option for Renegade option or CRD option.. wtf.. easy done in the factory.. this is stupid for them to discontinue them :( i love my Renegade..
