Normally I just do alot of reading on these forums. But I had a day that I just have to talk about. So here it goes. Iv been single for less than a week and feeling really down. My buddy Chris calls me up trying to get me to go offroading. I figured I needed to do something to keep my mind off of things. So I pick him up and all is well we are making our way through the trails without alot of problems. It rained the night before pretty hard so half the time we spent going down the trails sideways.
It was alot of fun. So we where headed out to go back to Chris's house to get some lunch and drinks. I then get high centered at a part in the trail that I already took 3 times that day. I was feeling rather sad that I high centered the liberty. I almost started to think it wasn't a good off road vehicle.
I wont go into detail about the many failed recovery attempts by me but I will say this. I used the jack like 5 times trying to get wood and other things under the liberty that didn't work. I even broke a 2 ton come along trying to winch myself using a tree.
So Chris calls his buddys from Texas that are in town asking if they can help us out. They get out to where we are and kinda laugh (this is due to the fact that the trails are behind a Lowes in Tulsa and it doesn't look that bad till you get into them). So we hop in and go to where the Jeep is. We almost got stuck a few times just trying to get out there. In fact they asked me how the hell did you even make it out here in the Liberty.
So after we break his tow strap (it was a really cheap one from wally world) we used mine and I was out after 2 tugs. So I pack up the jack and all my tools and take Chris home.
Heres the fun part. About an hour later I get a call on my cell phone and its the guys from Texas. They where cracking up telling me how they are high centered. So they where asking for my help this time. I was glad to help being that they helped me but only an hour ago. Now keep in mind this is a f-150 with a small lift and some revos.
I get to where they are and after a few trys I get there truck out and back on the trail and we head out. In my head im thinking sweet I pulled a f-150 out from being stuck. So we are headed back to to exit the trails and then something horrible happened. I see in my rear view mirror his head lights go from side to side to almost up and down. I got out to see what happened and this is hard to explain but ill try. There is this one hard part of the trail where it turns and your on a bank and to your left is trees and flat ground and to the right is about a 5 foot drop off thats about 3 feet wide.
He managed to fall in trying to avoid scrapping a tree. I was really scared for him thinking that he was toast and that there was no way I was getting him out of that one. I said I will try my best but I don't know if we can do this.
Im trying my hardest with the poor Liberty in 4-lo and the f-150 was just inching. Then out of nowhere on a tug I notice im going forward lol. So picture this a Liberty pulling a f-150 both in 4-lo just flooring it and moving only at about 5 mph. As soon as we are free the driver jumps out and yells "That little thing just pulled me out im never gonna rag on a Liberty again" as another chimes in "Im gonna get my girl friend one of these".
I had the biggest grin on my face it almost hurt. I then knew I made the perfect choice with the liberty. There is only on bad thing about this day and that is that I almost ripped off my drivers side door. I was in reverse and didn't know my liberty was creeping backwards and I had my door open listening for yells from people and managed to get the door at about a 90 degree angle to the liberty. so now it doesn't shut right.
But here are a few pics. Im sorry I should have take some action shots but most the time we where in a panic so taking pictures wasn't really on my mind. Im not in any of the shots either lol some one has to man the camera.
But I had fun and it was a great day even tho I was still upset from getting the boot by the girlfriend earlier in the week. I still miss her.
