I was getting something very similar although mine also always did it at very low speeds while turning (parking) - turned out to be the steering coupler was toast. Replaced under warrantly.

My repair invoice from the dealer didn't shjow any real dollar amounts because it was all warranty. Just give a local dealer a call and ask for a price on an '02 stearing coupler. Probably the labor installing it would be way more than the part itself. ANyhow it might not even be that. If I were you I'd bring it to a dealer and tell them to investigate the problem and give you a quote. I imagine there could be a whole host of things causing these symptoms..

Hmmm, might be the problem I'm having with mine. Most of the pops/klunks are at low speeds- it all seems to go away past 30. My klunking seems to be a little too loud to be a loose CV joint cover. I guess I'll swing by a dealer too and see what they have to say. (besides: that is an awfully big gouge on your tranny skid....) Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky.
