How do these tires do in the rain and snow (and sand, if any of you have taken them on the beach)?

I read the reviews at the tirerack.com website and some people are saying they are downright dangerous in the rain and snow. Is this true? (I'm assuming they weren't trying to take a turn at 60mph)

How do you like them? I know the strong points are driving off-road (that's really what they're made for), how are they on the road?

Maximum Traction/Reinforced (except when wet). Thats what most of us commonly say. They definitely do better than the stock Goodyears, and will do real well if you have them siped. The reviews don't lie. You have to be a bit careful in the rain. Haven't personally tested mine in the snow.

When my mtr's were new, I had no complaints. Decent enough in the rain for what they are (better than the stockers were), sketchy on ice, pretty good in snow, wicked awesome offroad These days my tires are worn pretty badly, only about 1/4 inch left to the treads. As they have worn, I've noticed that they are more sketchy on wet pavement than they used to be. Also generally speaking its easier to make the tires unhook, even on dry pavement. I think my case is a little extreme though, and probably a really good example of why you should rotate your mud tires with every oil change. I didn't and MAN did they wear out fast. I have put about 43k kilometers on these, and I will need new tires by the end of the summer at this rate.

I'm one my 3rd set(between 2 vehicles over the last 5 years) and i love them to death,I'll never switch because they are really good execpt on ice.The set I had on my GC had about 50,000 miles and had just about half the tread left,the noise never bothered me like it does others but it keeps the deer away and lets me Know that they are still on my KJ.

Had mine for 42k+ miles in Chicagoland area. Every type of weather you could think of. I have never had my vehicle go out of control in any weather condition. I'm looking at replacing them soon with another set of MTRs.

I've had mine for about 3 months and I love them. I think the grip on wet roads is exceptional for the type of tire. I LOVE how noisy they are ( I mean it's a jeep right.) I will definatly get another set if I were to wear mine out soon.

Love mine and they have worked great. Would get another set if I could steal them cheap off a Rubicon.

FWIW, the Dunlop Mud Rovers I run on my XJ work great also for being a MT tire and are affordable too. Just in case you are looking for an alternative.

I agree with JJsKJ, the mud rovers are a darn good mud tire. I don't know how the do on rocks but in the mud they are just as good as the MT/R's. My buddy just took a set off his truck after 7 years, tons of mudding, the worlds largest lead foot, and three wrecks, and three trucks.

I have a little over 20K miles on my MT/Rs and I absolutely love them. I've driven with them through every type of weather that Colorado can throw at me and never had an issue. Yes, I do need to have a slightly lighter foot on ice but I think the only way to avoid that is to get studded tires. I rotate my tires every time I get an oil change because they do wear unusally (unevenly fairly quickly but lasting well overall). I do plan to purchase another set once these wear out. Also, I hardly even notice the noise anymore unless I'm going less than 5mph and even then I don't think it's all that intrusive.

Gotta say that I really like the "music" those tires make goin down the road Even though they wore pretty fast on me, I'll likely buy em again - 245 75's once I get the Frankenlift installed.
