I went into Wally World to buy a filter today. After I grabbed the correct size (ph3600), I went to the checkout. There the kid on the counter told me, "If we're ever out of the 3600s, you can use a 3614". I looked him in the eyes and replied, "I have a 6 cylinder. the 3614 is for the 4 cylinder, and I'd NEVER put a smaller filter on my Jeep". he just looked confused.

This is why I change my own oil :banghead:

In before the oil filter debate starts
:SOMBRERO:

There is one size bigger that works, don't know the brand or part number. I'd be worried in changing from the factory spec because of the threads.

The 3614 will technically work, but it has reduce filter capabilities.

What about a PH8a?
I know that Toyota pickups that use the ph3614 can also use the ph8a which is a lot bigger.

That was my point.

Don't know, but I can't take my filter out behind the fan (I have both electric and mechanical), and underneath I can barely get the 3600 out. I won't go smaller, but I don't think I'd like to go much bigger, either.
