Looks like I'm gonna have to do a heater core this weekend, just as I was thinking of trading it in, too. I have to drive it though for the next few days though.

Does coolant flow through the core when the heat is off in the Liberty? Seems like it smells less when I don't run the heat, so I'm hoping that means no and I can minimize the amount of coolant I dump until I can get it done.

Thanks,

Ryan

Coolant flows through the heater core 100% of the time.

Thanks for the quick help, much appreciated. If you were gonna trade it in within the next few weeks, would you try a the "stop leak" stuff and hope for the best? Or just bite the bullet and spend the weekend swearing at the thing as I tear the dash out lol

Be nice and fix it right so the next owner doesn't curse you.

How much you going to get on the trade in and what are the specs? Someone on here might want it for more. Stealerships steal used cars...

It's a 2008 with 85k. OME 1.5". Dynapro ATM's. I've had t since 16k miles.

Gonna do the repair and keep it. We just bought a house a few months ago so it's. Or the best time to buy something new.

Im going to put a little bit of money into sprucing it up, maybe do the clevis lift to try to get it a bit more higher. Also a bit behind on maintenance so I need to do all the fluids and plugs.

Starting the repair this afternoon, hope it goes somewhat smooth.

Thanks

Ryan

Did the repair, wasn't the worst but had a few frustrating moments. I was able to get the half of the heater box with the core in it out separately, so I didn't need to open the ac system.

However, my KK is gone!! Traded it in last Friday. Got a 2015 Tacoma with 16k miles on the clock.

The Liberty was a great truck, but man I'm loving the Tacoma.
